The story chronicles the antics of the tortoises throughout the year, including how Annie helps them to hibernate in her refrigerator during the winter! Children will learn about the habitat and behavior of land tortoises, characteristics of the seasons of the year, and facts about Scotland’s geography, history, and culture. A glossary of words used in the book is included.
“A charming tale sure to pique kids’ interest in Scotland—and tortoises.” – Kirkus Reviews
Rhyming Fun-Learning Made Easy
by Patrice Gilbert
The Rhyming Fun -Learning Made Easy Series includes fun, interactive, educational, beautifully illustrated books that align with topics taught in school for ages Birth-8. They were written by a Speech and Language Pathologist with children with learning differences in mind, but the books can be enjoyed by children of all abilities. Each rhyme can be read independently (no story to follow) while teaching vocabulary, concepts, categorizing, and language and literacy skills. The repetitive interactive question with each rhyme engages children to think about what they know and talk about it.
