Illustrator Allyn Howard will be at CBW on September 29th at 1pm!

Children’s Book World invites you to welcome fall with a beautiful new book written by Camelia Kay and illustrated by our guest, Allyn Howard. 

Allyn will be here on Sunday, September 29th at 1pm to share the story of Daddy and Baby Fox as they welcome a festive parade of autumn fun, with falling leaves, shiny red apples, acorns, and all of their beloved friends.  Perfect for children in Pre-School through Grade 2.

About Allyn Howard

Allyn Howard is a painter and illustrator who’s drawn to sweet subject matter, particularly animals, quiet scenes and pretty patterns. Nostalgia  runs through much of her work, a sense or memory of the best parts of childhood— exploring outside, riding your bike, drawing and laughing with friends, feeling cozy in bed while someone reads you a story.Travel, architecture and walks around her favorite neighborhoods influence her work.

Allyn did some set decorating on independent films before joining her union, Local 829, as a scenic artist. She worked in the film industry for over 20 years, while creating her own art and doing custom wall murals for children’s rooms. More recently, she licenses art and designs to companies for home decor and paper goods. Her work is hand painted using water based acrylics on wood panels, sometimes paper.

Allyn grew up in Richmond, Va. and stayed to attend VCU, where she received a BFA in Communication Arts & Design. She  visited New York City with her mother every year as a teenager, seeing lots of great theater and unforgettable exhibitions, eating at favorite restaurants and walking all over that iconic city! She fell in love with the culture, the energy, the excitement of it and  moved there when she was 23. She studied Studio Art at NYU and received her MA while also making some of her closest friends, who remain like family. Although a part of her heart remains in both Richmond and NYC she moved to West Mt. Airy in Philadelphia in 2023 where she loves the pretty gardens reminiscent of quaint English villages and the local cafes and restaurants she can walk to.  She loves exploring this historic city and all the charm it has to offer.
